Born from a love for process and everyday quality, Maru is made with intention, balance and a dedication for the ritual of a well-made coffee. The LA-based minimalist brand asked us to enhance their brand distinctiveness and translate their analog feel into the digital world. We came up with a custom font that is the epitome of geometric simplicity while celebrating the mastery of the uneventful but possibly day-changing drop of coffee. The Maru typeface is a geometric lineal based on Futura. However, the proportions and design of the typeface have been revised to better comply with the standards of contemporary typography.
